And today's the end of SIFF at sinema. But not the end to SIFF cos there's still the closing film tomorrow at lido and I'm going!! I'm so glad to have been part of SIFF this year - watching films, meeting people...
Today was alright, with a new volunteer named Angela who always uses the word "endearing". LOL but she's really nice and friendly and knows a lot of films. But as usual, when nearing the last screening, my energy level just dips all the way down. The sistic girl, Miaoling, was nice to talk to as well.
And surprise surprise I met Lionel and Alvin!!
From day 1, I knew that Lionel might be showing up for some screenings but never got to meet him. And there he was today! Alvin was a total surprise. Both of them were part of the crew who made "To speak" possible. Lionel's the producer and Alvin was the DOP.
"To Speak" is a very touching and simple story about the poor in Cambodia. The cast is totally green so the acting wasn't that fabulous but the story was quite strong. The music was fantastic. It was composed by Reuben Kee, one of the dragonboaters who lost their lives at the Cambodian water festival dragonboat race late last year.
But I'm so disappointed I missed "After the rain" - a short by Royston Tan!!!
Oh and that day at substation, the singapore shorts were GREAT!!!
Like 'wet season' and 'silent girls' (of cos) especially. But the soundproofing was soooooo horrible!!! I actually thought the thunder was from the films themselves!!
I was really surprised and excited to see "Production Manager - Yip Ka Man" on screen. All the while I thought I was a PA!
And that means, to date I have my name on 3 films (and a docu coming!!). It's so wonderful seeing a film that I've been part of. 'Silent girls' especially cos I was on set throughout and really was part of the production, unlike just doing post or a short segment of it. But all are satisfying to watch nonetheless.
So it seems like I might be working at Sinema soon.
